    Job Description

    Software engineer for the Simulation/Stimulation (Sim/Stim) development team at the Newport Engineering Office in Middletown, RI.  The successful candidate will support the Sim/Stim project during simulator requirements definition, system design, software development, hardware integration, test, documentation, software life cycle support and maintenance of the simulators used to test tactical submarine systems for both Virginia and Columbia class.

    Education/ Experience


    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent technical degree
    • Extensive experience with Linux Operating systems and software development in C++
    • Extensive Experience with requirements analysis, software design, code, unit testing and debugging, software/hardware integration, Configuration Management tools, C++ compilers, documentation and test procedure development
    • Experience leading software projects
    • 10 - 14 years of related experience


    • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering


    The candidate must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and writing skills.

    Candidate must be highly motivated to contribute in a team environment developing state of the art software simulations to test Virginia and Columbia class submarines.

    Leadership skills and the ability to prepare and give presentations in design reviews and status meetings with customers and management.

    Mentoring of engineers in the software development process.

    Skills required are Linux, C++, Python and shell scripting.

    Experience with Configuration Management tools for software development.

    Experience with Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) Level 3 processes.
