    Electric Boat Shore Facilities Engineering Services (Department 701) is seeking an experienced Facility Designer for the continued development of the training facilities required to support the COLUMBIA Class submarine training program. This individual will be responsible for producing commercial construction documents utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for the following: existing trainer/classroom demolition, trainer facility outfitting (including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection layout), and trainer installations for use by commercial contractors.  The designer will also perform site survey activities at submarine training facilities located in Kings Bay, Georgia and Bangor, Washington.  Site survey support may also be needed at the other submarine bases around the country.  The designer should have the ability to take acquired site survey information and seamlessly create as-built condition drawings to be utilized by engineering to plan future trainers.  Designer must be capable of working independently with minimal direction in creation of drawing packages.  Designer should be knowledgeable in what commercial facility drawings should consist of and what should be on the drawings to successfully construct a project.  Designer will be expected to work with the government customer as well as present concepts and completed work to senior government program managers and prime contractors. 

     

     

    Education/ Experience

    Required:

    • 5 years of commercial facility design experience.
    • Extensive proven experience with Autodesk Revit
      Capable of creating and managing large Revit facility models.

    Preferred:

    • Associates Degree in Construction Technology, Architectural Building Engineering Technology, or comparable coursework.
    • Professional equivalent experience also considered
    • Experience in facility electrical and mechanical drawing development.
    • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite.
    • General knowledge of and experience with applying building codes, life safety codes, NFPA codes, etc.
    • General knowledge of and experience with creating construction specifications and cost estimates of commercial and government facility construction.

    Skills

    Ability to read and understand construction drawings

     

    Must have good communication skills with the ability to work with others in a team environment.

     

    Extensive proven experience with Autodesk AutoCAD
