    Job Description

    The successful candidate will provide radiological technical support to Ship’s Force, Nuclear Engineering, Radiological Operations, and Nuclear Operations, as well as perform oversight during the planning and execution of radiological work.  Radiological Engineers are the technical authority responsible to uphold NAVSEA 389-0288 and Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program Principles.

     Duties will include:

    • Developing and reviewing procedures and methods to identify improvements and ensure appropriate radiological controls are employed
    • Developing exposure estimates, maintaining the radiological status of ships or facilities, and preparing radiological control agreements
    • Providing deckplate support and oversight of radiological work in the shipyard and at Subase, New London
    • Coordinating with other naval nuclear shipyards to maintain and improve corporate radiological controls procedures
    • Investigating and preventing or mitigating radiological problems
    • Providing technical support for Radiological Operations
    • Lead special projects.
    • Promote innovation and process improvement.

    Education/ Experience


    • Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience
    • Radiological Control Operations Supervisory experience
    • 3+ years of RCT/SRCT experience


    • NAVSEA 389-0288 Article 108 qualification



    Applicant must be granted a minimum of an interim secret clearance prior to position commencing. They must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance to remain in the position.
    Applicants must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively with engineering, management, and trades personnel.
