    Job Description

    General Dynamics Electric Boat has an exciting opportunity for candidates in the Missile Defense field. The IVT Engineer will be supporting the Discrimination Program within the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Engineering Team – Industry (MET-I), and known as the, “National Team” which brings critical industry skills, capabilities, and knowledge to the MDA. Responsibilities within the role will include:


    • Analyze the Discrimination functionality and decompose the functions into KeyTest Points.
    • Performing system analysis on the complex Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS), and reporting written results in an Assessment Requirements Document and presenting those results.
    • Partnering with associated Systems Engineering (SE) teams, Test Organizations, Warfighters and Element Program focals to ensure BMDS tests meet the technical intent for system capabilities and behaviors.
    • Develop and present analytical products that are based on assessing strategic and theater/regional system level performance of the BMDS in ground test and flight test events.


    Education/ Experience



    • A Bachelor's degree of Engineering, Mathematics or Physics 
    • Knowledge of ground test design and data collection for a complex missile defense program.
    • Knowledge of System Engineering campaign and event design processes in support of system assessment, system level interface design and specifications is required.
    • Emphasis should be placed upon system behavior and performance characterization of representative battle management and command and control functions and their associated information exchange requirements tied to specified performance metrics that are traditionally demonstrated in system level test events.
    • Candidate must be proficient in using analytical tools that assess the system level performance of the BMDS including radar acquisition, tracking, and discrimination; battle manager engagement planning, warfighter interaction, and engagement coordination with other BMDS systems; and interceptor acquisition, tracking, and discrimination.


    • Advanced degree of Engineering, Mathematics or Physics
    • Candidates should have a strong systems engineering background and demonstrated collaboration and presentation skills.
    • Additionally, candidate should possess a familiarity of the Missile Defense program, a strong background with Matlab (or similar), Excel, system analysis, and system level testing.



    Position is a permanent position in Huntsville, Alabama.
