    Job Description

    General Dynamics Electric Boat has an exciting opportunity for candidates in the Missile Defense field. The Systems Concept Requirement (SC&R) Engineer will report into the SC&R product team within the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Engineering Team – Industry (MET-I), and known as the, “National Team” which brings critical industry skills, capabilities, and knowledge to the MDA. Responsibilities within the role will include:


    • Leading cross discipline work groups to perform systems engineering functional requirements development activities to integration Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) capabilities.
    • Coordinate and lead updates and maintenance of BMD system specifications and supporting documentation.
    • Develop SysML/UML design packages supporting analysis, definition, and architecture needed to document, allocate and trace BMD System and subordinate element level requirements for existing or new capabilities.
    • Participate in multi-functional engineering working groups of stakeholders from MDA organizations to facilitate collaboration and technical concurrence with requirements, review of technical issues, and negotiate resolution while providing technical input as necessary.
    • Develops and presents briefings on task plans, status and results.
    • Routinely represents SC&R in technical meetings with MDA management and leadership.

    Education/ Experience


    • Active Secret Clearance
    • Bachelor's degree of Engineering, Mathematics or Physics
    • 10+ years of experience performing systems engineering and/or functional specification and interface specification development.
    • Experience with a complex weapon system, system-of-systems, or Missile Defense element such as Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), X-Band Radar (XBR), Command Control Battle Management Communication (C2BMC) or Aegis BMD.
    • Systems engineering background and experience developing/writing and analyzing functional and interface requirements
    • Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities.
    • Ability to develop solutions to a wide range of complex system-of-systems technical problems that require ingenuity, innovation and collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
    • Ability to develop, document, and maintain processes, methods, and tools.
    • Ability to lead in a small teams in a multi-company environment.


    • Active TS/SCI
    • Advanced degree of Engineering, Mathematics or Physics
    • Familiarity/Experience with requirements management engineering tools. 
    • SysML/UML modeling 
    • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite.


    Position is a permanent position in Huntsville, Alabama.
