Selected candidates will be responsible for supporting a wide range of electrical systems and equipment in the following areas: reactor plant instrumentation and control systems, steam and electric plant systems, auxiliary electrical/electronic systems, power distribution equipment and systems, and advanced power electronics. Position supports all fleet submarines, including Los Angeles, Ohio, Seawolf, and Virginia Classes and training platforms (i.e. S5W/S6G MTS @ NPTU Charleston, SC and MARF/S8G Prototype @ Kesselring, NY).
Responsibilities range from initial system and/or component design, upgrades, and life cycle support. Candidates will function as a project engineer overseeing all aspects of engineering tasks including assurance of first time technical quality, working in a team environment, maintaining budgets and schedules, and interfacing with design and other engineering organizations. Candidates will also be required to evaluate and disposition system and component related questions and liaison inquiries from Naval Shipyards, Navy Forces afloat, land based prototypes, reactor plant prime contractors and NAVSEA. Selected candidates will be expected to effectively communicate within the organization as well as with NAVSEA, prime contractors, navy shipyards and equipment vendors.
