    Job Description

    Install wireways supporting cables in submarines. Install cables and electrical components (nuclear and non-nuclear) ranging from large power distribution switchboards to telephones (also includes control, power, electronics, and weapon systems). Install, tag out, and test ship's lighting.  Hook up cables to electrical components in accordance with NAVSEA methods and procedures, such as hardwire and connecterization. Groom electrical components for a variety of inspections, and also responsible to provide documentation for every job performed. Mechanics are provided skills, including Vulcanization of ship's cables and the installation andmaintenance of shipboard temporary services. Applicants will be tasked to learn power and data/signal cable splicing.

    Education/ Experience

    • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • Vocational, Technical Colleges, Apprentice programs, Military, Shipbuilding, and Manufacturing experience preferred.
    • Candidates who have successfully completed the CT Department of Labor Eastern Workforce Investment Board Training Program are preferred.


    • Candidate must be able to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints; wire diagrams, and perform basic layout functions.
    • Willing to take road jobs and the ability to work all shifts.
