    Job Description

    Electric Boat is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to work primarily with the Company’s HR Counsel and Materials Management (Procurement) Counsel and be a trusted business partner to the Human Resources and Materials Management Organizations. The chosen applicant’s roles and responsibilities will include, but is not limited to, the following:

     

    Human Resources

    Materials Management

    ·   Provide advice, counsel, research, training and solutions to complex employment and labor law issues

    ·   Vendor Qualifications

    ·   Represent the business on EEO charges

    ·   Negotiation of Subcontract Terms and Conditions

    ·   Work with outside counsel on employment disputes and litigation

    ·   Subcontractor Performance Issues

    ·   Develop and implement internal practices and policies to achieve compliance with applicable laws

    ·   Terminations for Default and Convenience

    ·   Work with the HR team in developing and managing business objectives

    ·   Technical Data Rights, Intellectual Property Rights and Nondisclosure Agreements

     

    Other responsibilities may be assigned by the General Counsel or the other Assistant General Counsels in the Legal Department.

    Education/ Experience

    Required:

    • Candidates must have a J.D. degree from an accredited law school and have an active license to practice law in Connecticut and/or Rhode Island (needs to be in good standing)
    • Minimum 3 years practicing law in either a law firm, government agency or corporate setting
    • Previous legal experience in management side HR

    Preferred:

    • Experience in government contracts and/or subcontract negotiation and administration is preferred

    Skills

    • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret level security clearance
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Energetic and creative problem-solver with superior interpersonal and client-management skills
    • Must be flexible, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize competing deadlines
    • Strong desire to be a direct contributor in a dynamic and collaborative working environment
