    Job Description

    Apply software engineering skills to design, develop, integrate, and test, as well as manage in-house web tools and applications in support of Electric Boat’s Learning Management System, which is a critical business system.  Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure products meet the security, functionality, and technical requirements of the user group and key stakeholders.  Knowledge of the software development life-cycle is required for this position.  Additional responsibilities may include software research and development, preparing presentations, participating in design reviews, interfacing closely with internal and external IT departments and vendor software representatives.


    This job falls into the workforce development department and is responsible for supporting every employee of Electric Boat. 


    Education/ Experience



    • BS/BA in an associated field, such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or five years documented work experience in Java programming (Standard and Enterprise), HTML JavaScript, SQL and web tool coding with demonstrated results is required. 
    • Proven experience in designing, coding, building and maintaining interactive websites and on-line tools using authoring or scripting languages. 
    • Proven ability to code interactive web-tools and provide meaningful metrics and reports on demand to support business decisions.
    • Knowledge of databases, use of Oracle and Java Script, and operational knowledge of authoring or programming tools and software.
    • Proven ability to interface with users / customers and translate business requirements in to system functionality



    • MS/MA in Computer Science, Information Technology, or ten years documented work experience in Java programming (Standard and Enterprise), HTML JavaScript, SQL and web tool coding with demonstrated results is preferred.
    • Five years’ experience in the management/administration of Talent Management Systems (e.g. Cornerstone onDemand), Human Resources Information Systems (e.g. PeopleSoft) and applications including Microsoft Office and eLearning tools is preferred


    • Java (Standard and Enterprise), HTML Java Script, SQL / Oracle
    • Familiarity with configuration management and quality assurance
    • Technical writing skills, including the ability to write and analyze software requirements
    • Strong organizational, project management, and presentation skills
    • Highly motivated, independent, ability to interact with other organizations in a highly dynamic environment to ensure on-time product delivery
