    Job Description

    Candidates must complete a comprehensive Qualification Program for Shift Test Engineer (STE).  This involves passing: 1) Extensive classroom training and written examinations; 2) Completing shipboard training; 3) NAVSEA administered written examination; 4) EB administered oral examination.  Approximate time for training before qualification as STE is 18 - 20 months after obtaining security clearance. 

     

    After qualification the STE directs reactor plant testing for his/her assigned shift (position does require various shift work, including overtime, weekends and the possibility of holidays).  This includes direction of Ship's Force, RadCon, Trades, Inspection, and Test Technician personnel.  The qualified STE ensures testing and operations involving the reactor plant are performed safely and in accordance with NAVSEA 0989-028-5000, Manual for the Control of Testing and Plant Conditions

    Education/ Experience

    REQUIRED: 

    EB employee with a secret clearance (Red Badge) OR a current or former US Navy personnel with nuclear training/experience

    Must have, or have had recently, a red badge/secret clearance

     

     

    PREFERRED:

    EOOW/EWS Qualifications

    Naval nuclear experience preferred

    For the Test Engineer slot an Associates in Engineering or Science is preferred
