    Job Description

    Responsibilities:

    The Materials Management Organization ensures a viable, high-performing supply chain that provides the right material to the right site at the right time in the required quality and quantity at the best possible value.  The current opening(s) will support the Indirect and Capital group and or Facilities Construction supporting the Facilities Master Plan.

     

    Candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Materials Management and supplier interface including, but not limited to the following:

    • strategic sourcing of various commodities
    • work scope development, if applicable
    • generation of requests for proposals and coordination of the bid process
    • review of supplier proposals for adequacy and compliance including supplier capacity assessments, contract terms and conditions, cost/price analysis and price negotiations including cost/price analysis
    • contract administration including managing the supplier, as well an internal departments, to ensure successful contract performance
    • material and services prioritization
    • resolution of problems affecting contract performance and shipyard schedules
    • subcontract closeout

     

    Candidate should have the ability to adapt to challenges and follow applicable policies and procedures while remaining composed in a constantly changing and challenging working environment.  This position requires the ability to effectively communicate and interface with all levels of internal and external (supplier and Government) stakeholders, including senior management levels. The candidate should also possess strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to solve problems and make sound decisions. 

    Some travel may be required.

    Education/ Experience

    REQUIRED

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Management, Supply Chain Management, English, or Construction Management
    • Candidate should possess strong written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills and should be able to work independently as well as in a team environment to achieve results.
    • Proficiency with MS Office is required

     

     

    PREFERRED

    • 1-15 years’ work experience in materials acquisition and/or supply chain management with related technical knowledge
    • Purchasing experience managing construction projects
    • Experience with MRPII and SPARS interface
    • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
    • Project management experience
    • Engineering

    Skills

    Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
