Job Description

This position reports to the Director of Planning Yard and Life Cycle Programs and will be fully responsible for management of GD/EB Planning Yard (PY) contract work at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) Site Offices. The Site Manager will serve as the GD/EB focal point for all navy activities and other contractors that support EB in connection with the PSNS &
Bangor site operation. These responsibilities include:

  • Design, installation and test of systems and components in the TRIDENT Training Facility (TTF) Bangor including modernization and
    upgrades to trainers and lab facilities.
  • Maintenance and operation of the Ship Control Operator Trainers (SCOT) at TTF, Bangor.
  • Engineering/technical support to PSNS & IMF; the Maintenance and Modernization Group, and various Alteration Installation Teams performing work on SSNs, SSBNs and SSGNs. Familiarity with LARs, DFSs, ERs, DFs, and etc. is required.
  • Configuration management/integrated Logistics (CM/ILS) monitoring and logistics support analysis of shipboard work accomplished during refits, overhauls, modernization periods, and voyage repairs on SSN, SSBN and SSGN submarines at PSNS &
  • Notification of Change to Selected Record Drawings (NCSRD) to document changes to SRDs resulting from maintenance and modernization activity during SSBN refits and SSGN modernization periods.
  • Support COLUMBIA Class design through the COLUMBIA Sustainment Program
  • Mission System Support Team (MSST) to provide timely delivery of services as required by SSN 23 and Undersea Research & Development (UR&D) Detachment including: Technical Support in all (O,Ior D) levels of maintenance; Technical Documentation (i.e.: Ship's Drawings and Technical Manuals); Work Control (i.e.: coordinating/ scheduling Multi-Mission Platform/Multi-Mission System ( MMP/MMS) work, tagout/lockout and Formal Work Packages (FWP)); Provide training on technical aspects of MMP/MMS and Managing MMP/MMS trainers.
  • Processing and execution of Purchase Orders to support Facilities Modifications and Alteration Installation Team efforts at West Coast facilities.
  • Recognize, pursue and capture potential growth opportunities: i.e.: implementation of facilities and equipment upgrades at PSNS & IMF to support COLUMBIA Class.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of all assigned personnel, product schedules, budgets, task priorities, quality of all work, and all administrative activities.
  • Must exhibit interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills to promote employee collaboration and customer relations.
  • Promote teamwork by setting team goals and providing feedback on performance.
  • Expand knowledge by creating a mentoring environment and infrastructure.

Education/ Experience


  • At least five (5) years of supervisory experience is required
  • BS Degree in Engineering or equivalent degree is required


  • Prior EB site experience preferred
  • TRIDENT ship design, engineering, and construction experience is preferred.


  • Navy experience is desired (Navy Repair Officer/Planning Officer experience)
  • Thorough understanding of TRIDENT submarine hull, mechanical, electrical and electronic systems
  • Detailed knowledge of TTF facility capabilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of EB Design, Engineering and Program areas to enable seamless reach-back to Groton for SME support
