Position supervises up to 20 salaried and represent personnel and supports second shift supervisor on an as required basis. Primary responsibilities will be to manage Electric Boats work in process storage warehouses ( buffers) for Virginia, Columbia Classes and Maintenance and Modernization work, Main Stores, Shipyard Load List and I&C spares material, Groton material kiting program and provide guidance and direction to off site warehouses on an as needed basis, including but not limited to Norfolk, Kings Bay, Puget, Hawaii and vendor storage programs ( Virtual warehouse ). Primary responsibilities are, but not limited too: goal setting, establish a high quality standard that personnel are expected to achieve or exceed, meet or exceed departments cost goals and initiatives for both direct and indirect costs, ensuring quality workmanship, promoting and meeting safety goals, support process improvement initiatives and create a positive team environment. Candidate will ensure material is properly marked and protected, segregated in accordance with NSI 500 specifications, ensure timely receipt and issue of material, achieve or exceed 98% inventory accuracy levels, do problem solving of in transit material to and from responsible warehouses and promote innovative thinking in the cognizant areas to promote safety and cost reduction.. Candidate will be responsible to organize material and assign work in a cost effect manor while creating a safe friendly working environment for labor and equipment. Candidate is required to ensure timely support to all customers, promote processes that support maintaining and exceeding material availability goals, evaluate personal and provide discipline as required. Candidate will be responsible to expand the existing material kiting process to include a larger population of parts and programs and institute pitch/catch type programs with Operations to minimize lost and delayed material. Candidate is also responsible for the maintenance and modernization support, the proper tracking recording and inventory of blue tag materials, receipt, control auditing and issuance of government owned I&C SPARES, SLL, management of the Groton HAZMAT and paint warehouse and provide necessary environmental reporting data.
Candidate is required to have a minimum of 3 years of warehousing and/ or material management experience. Bachelors degree is required
Lean six sigma or equivalent green belt, experience in material conveyance and material kitting are preferred
Demonstrated leadership experience
MS Office Proficiency
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
